Hello Guto Putti, is such a pleasure for us, TranceLatinoamérica, to have the chance to talk with you, a very important exponent in Brazilian Trance Scene.

First question is something we ask to everyone who dares to be here:

1. What does Trance mean to you?

A mix of things, Art, Creativity, Love, Friendship and Respect. A way of Life.

2. At what age you started listening to Trance? What did inspire you to stay on it?

I dj since 1992 and started listening and playing Italo-Dance. Back In 1998 to1999, in São Paulo, we use to go to parties in many clubs and raves during the week. Almost every day of the week, when I was very young. 18/19 years old. The electronic music scene was huge. From Drum N’ Bass with Dj Marky and Patife, to the most impressive Techno with Anderson Noise! From the many clubs we use to go every week, there was one called ‘THE POOL’, on thursdays. The Dj there use to play techno most of the time and many famous electronic artists use to be there as guests. Guys like Taucher for example and many others. One day after 5am the resident of the club, started playing Uplifting Trance. I believe the very first trance record I heard in a club was System F - Out of the Blue, and then Gouryella - Gouryella, Paul Van Dyk - For an Angel etc. But my biggest inspiration as an artist is Armin Van Buuren, I listen to his music since 1998 and its where I started listening to Trance. But also found other amazing records and releases from Blank & Jones, Paul Van Dyk, ATB, Tiesto, Mario Più, York, Johan Gielen, Dumonde, Rank 1 and many others. These artists also inspired me til nowadays and gave me the strength to continue with Trance. I have much respect to all these legends.

3. You own several Trance related projects. Can you tell us a bit about them?

Yes sure. here its a few ideas of each one of them.

- Amazon: Amazon symbolizes the spirit of nature.

- Aevus: Aevus, means life, and passage of time in latin. We must enjoy this life as much as we can, and the time we are here on this place of transition called earth. Time, well time is relative. Each one has its own.

- The Red Ronin: Is an analogy of an alone Samurai. It means freedom. Freedom for creativity and art. Its where I sign my deepest tracks.

- StarFights: Means that we must live in peace and respect the differences. Only in a distant  far away galaxy we must have fights, competitions, and lack of respect. Respect each one.

- Putti: Is my surname and means Angels in latin. Some past tracks like Roma, 3 Sides where signed in Italy (Rome) while I was living there. So its dedicated to where my family came from having double nationality. Italy.

- Guto Putti: My purest sounds and ideas.

- Sunrise: Means the hope for another day of life. Is a celebration to be alive and the respect to others and their creativity.

- Red Clouds Syndicate: Together with Nic Vegter, for me symbolizes the anger of the sky, manifesting its power through trance!!! heheh :P

4. As a Trance lover, you own some projects that focus in supporting BrazilianTrance Scene from many areas. What can you tell us about them?

About my personal musical career, I’m always creating new sounds and styles to bring different feelings on each song. Im very excited for my upcoming releases on Neurals Records (Media Rec - Italy) A&R Mario Più and sure also on my own labels. My upcoming release on Neurals records is a tech trance track called Aevus - God’s Particle and it comes in 2 versions. Something Im really proud to release soon.

Yes, thats true. I have a few trance related projects besides my artist career, which the main focus is Brasil and South America, but also sometimes it has a worldwide reach.

The first one is TRANCEMAG//BR www.trancemag.com.br which I’m chief Editor and Creative Director. TRANCEMAG//BR is a Brazilian trance magazine where we bring the latest and most important news from the worldwide trance scene. We count with a huge amount of press agencies and record labels helping us every week and also great official partners like Trance Latino America, CDME- Cultura da Música Eletrônica, Radio na Balada etc. The second project is my weekly radio show called High Trance Energy where I bring guests from all over the world, but also some great Brazilian djs.

Also with the focus on the world wide trance scene, I’m A&R of Azura Recordings (main label) and 2 more sub labels, High Trance Energy and  the new label Flamingo Progressive, please visit  www.azurarecordings.com or www.facebook.com/azurarecordings. We are very proud to release tracks from Allegro (Chile), Swift (Usa), Enfortro (Australia), Moonstruck (Bangladesh), CJ. S.a.y. (Russia), Nic Vegter (Netherlands), New State (Argentina), Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov (Russia), The Omim (Tunisia), Marcell Stone (Brazil) and many others.

5. What is your opinion about Trance Scene here in Latin America?

I can’t have an opinion about other countries that I really don’t know much how’s the current trance scene. But as I see on internet, its growing every single day! More and more.

I think Argentina is years ahead compared to any other country in Latin America at the moment regarding Trance Music. In Argentina we see huge parties in clubs happening now. Here in Brazil no.

Talking about Brazil. I believe that Brazil for example have a different concept of what is Trance Music nowadays. The brazilian club owners and promoters should start opening their eyes to Trance Music and give Trance Music a chance once again as they gave in the past. Not only by booking artists in festivals, which is extremely important for the trance scene, but also by booking them on clubs, calling locals artists and djs (I would love to play once again in a club here, I miss that so much). I participated as a dj and as a fan of a few past huge club events and outdoor events in São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Pernambuco, and saw many legends playing here. Guys like Aly and Fila, John 00 Fleming, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Rank 1, Armin Van Buuren, Sean Tyas, BT, Johan Gielen, Simon Patterson, Paul Van Dyk, Mauro Picotto, Mario Più, Scott Bond, Solarstone and many more. But I think this is changing here slowly at least I hope it is. Well, something really positive about our scene is that now in Brasil most of the people knows the difference between Psy Trance and Trance. I love psy trance by the way and I have a huge respect for their scene here in Brasil. I see a bright future for Trance in Latin America in general!

6. How about the producers?

There are a lot of great artists coming from South America, for sure in time there will be even more. Trance is an inspiration for anyone!

7. What is the gig you have loved the most being part of as DJ? Why?

I will never forget a gig in São Paulo in 2006 in a club called Blood. There was 3.000 young people! From 17 till 20 years old. Incredibly crazy for trance music! Absolutely my best gig, cause it surprised me a lot.

8. Your show “High Trance Energy” has many listeners worldwide. Important artists have collaborated with their tunes selection as guest mix. Is there any surprise we can expect forward?

Yes. Every week we are bringing new talents and well known legends to the show, I’m very proud and happy about it.

I hope I can count with the upcoming guest artists to make it even bigger, and possibly very soon, bring the concept to clubs and outdoor festivals as a stage.

In my opinion its important to show their work to the Brazilian listeners and open the doors for possible gigs.

I love to prepare the radio show every week. its really made with love and passion!

9. What do you think about the fact that some artists are coming back to Trance after a little “walk” around other electronic genres? In your opinion, is it for money or love?

I think its all art and creativity. I like to test some techno sounds sometimes, or even chill out etc. In my opinion, each person knows whats best for itself.

10. Guto, do you think Trance is on its way back to the throne as the king of other subgenres in electronic music?

I think so. For the fact, Trance respects other genres and their scenes! :)

11. To finish, you have free space to say anything to those who read this.

Thank you so much for having me. I hope to play in your city very soon.

Never give up on your dreams. For every hater, there are thousands of lovers. Peace.

Stay tuned to my upcoming releases on Neurals Records (Media Rec Italy) and Azura Recordings

Thank you for your time, Guto.
